CNET Review
Rating: 7.4 out of 10Liked: Decent scans for the price; easy to set up and to use; convenient 35mm negative autoloader.
Disliked: Weak film-scan quality.
In Short: A nice buy for the penny-pinching hobbyist/amateur photographer who has moderate scanning needs.
PC World Review
Rating: N/ALiked: This innovative $149 flatbed model has an automatic film loader--a nifty device that scans individual frames of 35mm filmstrips at the touch of a button.... Did an excellent job of scanning film and produced fine results from prints.
Disliked: None
In Short: The Perfection 2580 Photo is an affordable choice for anyone who wants to scan scads of film negatives with minimal effort while also enjoying the flexibility of having a standard flatbed scanner.
Bios Magazine Review
Rating: N/ALiked: Built-in automatic film loader; good software bundle; optional photo feeder
Disliked: Mediocre image quality; no optional ADF; noisy; no FireWire
In Short: Building on the Perfection 2480 Photo, the Perfection 2580 Photo is identical apart from the built-in automatic film loader that lets you scan strip films of up to six frames. The Perfection 2480 Photo won't appeal to discerning photographers or business users looking for a high-input solution, but Epson's latest flatbed scanner offers a great deal of functionality for an entry-level price.
