HP is offering a new color laser printer that's under $500, a very competitive price for a color laser printer. It comes with built-in network support (wired) as well as duplex printing, and reviews note that its print speeds are extraordinarily fast.
Print Speeds and Quality:
The printer's specs say that it'll print monochrome up to 21 ppm at best quality (the same as at normal quality), with first-page out in just over 17 seconds. Those are all good speeds. The specs boast the same print times for color prints, with only a slightly longer time for first page out. Color and monochrome resolution are both up to 600 x 600 dpi.
Ink and Paper:
This HP Color LaserJet uses four toner cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, yellow). Its paper trays can accommodate up to 250 sheets, and duplex printing is automatic. It can support paper sizes up to legal as well as envelopes, labels, transparencies, and photo paper.
Connectivity Requirements, OS, and Dimensions:
For connectivity: Windows 2000 and after (minimum requirements Pentium II processor or higher, 64 MB RAM, 250 MB hard disk space, SVGA 800x600 with 16-bit color display, Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, CD-ROM drive, USB port). Supported by Windows 2000 and above, and Mac OS X v10.2.8 or above, Linux. Measures 15.9 x 27.1 x 12.7 inches, 52.7 lbs.
