Samsung SCX-4623FW Wireless Laser Printer

The Samsung SCX-4623FW is a wireless monochrome laser printer aimed at small businesses, home offices, and consumers who have a compelling need for a black-and-white printer. It's got WiFi built in and offers a scanner, copier, and fax as well as an automatic document feeder. Manual duplexing, at least to me, is a drawback in a $250 laser printer; but the print quality is uniformly excellent.

The new Samsung SCX-4623FW Wireless Laser Printer does the basics very well. Most importantly, the print quality is uniformly excellent and crisp, as a laser printer should be. It's got wireless and wired networking built in, and both are easy to set up. As a multifunction printer, the scanner, copier, and fax are all nice to have for small offices, as is the 40-sheet automatic document feeder.

Print speeds were up to par, with pages taking about three seconds each to come out once the warm-up was done--first-page-out times were nearly 20 seconds when the printer was first coming out of its warm-up stage. The printer works with Samsung's AnyWeb Print software, which allows you to customize which elements of a Web page you want to print, thus saving you endless paper and endless attempts to print only what you want to print.

The printer can accept the same toner cartridge as some other Samsung models (including the ML-2525 and the SCX-4600). Toner cartridges available for the printer include both the standard 1.5k yield or the 2.5k yield.
