Guide Review - Canon Pixma iP6310D Photo Printer
Setup was simple -- especially compared to some printers that come with instructions so obtuse you need to understand hieroglyphics. The instructions here have enough text and diagrams to make their intent clear. This philosophy is also apparent in the user-friendly printer driver. The bundled software includes a useful toolbar for Internet Explorer, similar to the Lexmark toolbar we recently reviewed.
Working with the hardware is just as simple. The buttons on the front are nicely laid out and labeled, and the paper feed shows you exactly where to place paper of different sizes. A flap at the front left opens to reveal the memory card slots, and a lower front panel reveals where you replace the ink cartridges (which move into place like a train chugging into a station.)
Looking at color quality, the blacks are very deep, and the whites are in stark contrast. When using Canon's Easy print software, the colors take on a richness you wouldn't expect from only two ink cartridges.
The paper trays fold up, making it convenient to store until the next time. With a quality photo printer like this, that may be sooner than you think.
