It seems a whole new angle on printing--according to Engadget, HP will release in September a new printer, the Photosmart eStation C510 that, according to screen grabs from HP's product page (the original seems to be gone now), has a "detachable, 7-inch, full-color touchscreen [that] doubles as a wireless digital companion and control panel for remote printing." The tablet provides Web and e-mail access as well as e-books--Engadget writer Ross Miller says that the tablet runs Android, as does the Barnes & Noble Nook (its version of digital e-book reader). Customized apps allow access and printing from Yahoo, Facebook, and Snapfish. A printer with a detachable tablet? Will it be a breakthrough gadget, or just a gimmick that doesn't go anywhere? Let us know your thoughts. And check back for a full review when HP officially releases the eStation C510.
