Dell Tweets for Cash
Sunday June 14, 2009
Businesses around the world are trying to figure out how to make money using Twitter (including Twitter itself). Dell has got it figured out. Its dozens of Twitter handles offer more than just news about new Dell printers, computers, creative goods, and other products and services. It also provides promotions and special offers via its tweets. Dell's been patient with Twitter, according to a Reuter's article Twitter Helps Dell Rake in Sales by Clare Baldwin, who writes that Dell
has raked in more than $3 million from Twitter followers who clicked through its posts to its Web sites to make purchases. The company, which has posted to Twitter about two years and tracks the sales with proprietary software, made more than $1 million in the past 6 months. The DellOutlet handle accounts for most of the sales; Baldwin says that there are 6-10 posts a week there, with about half offering discounts to Twitter followers (there are about 600,000 followers). Earn some Dell savings by following them on Twitter.
