Updated Xerox Phaser 3100MFP Review
Sunday September 7, 2008
A few weeks back I reviewed the Xerox Phaser 3100 MFP, a laser all-in-one that gave me lots of problems with paper jams. After spending some time on the phone with a team of Xerox troubleshooters, we got things working properly, and I was able to run the 3100 through some tests without encountering the dreaded paper jam. The printer did a great job, with prints looking sharp and coming out quickly. Still, I was less than impressed with the printer's scanning speed and, while I've added some stars to the overall rating, I think for the money there are some better deals out there.

Have this same printer at work, and it is not compatible with Vista, apparently. Tried downloading new updates that would allegedly fix the problem and so far the fixes have not worked or I kept getting a message saying that everything was updated. Most documents come out with a broken line of text or symbols about a half-inch from the bottom, which looks very unprofessional. Also, envelopes and sheets of labels always jam when fed manually.
Overall, not happy with this product.

Often an aborted print job will cause the broken line of symbols to appear. I’ve had it happen when a printer ran out of paper in the middle of a job–when it was loaded with paper, it started doing this. Canceling the print job and turning the printer off and back on typically solves the issue.
