Scan Across a Network

Sunday July 6, 2008
Recently a visitor to the Printers/Scanners Forum asked this question: "We have a 'Toshiba estudio 120/150' scanner connected via USB to 1 networked PC. The Scanner has no network card and is USB only. My question is, can this scanner be shared with other PC's on the network and if so, how?"

One answer is to use software such as Remote Scan. While it's not free (and in fact it's kind of pricey) it will allow all the computers on a network to share a single scanner, even one that's not network ready. I tried it out and it worked great--and while the price is steep, for a small office it may be better than buying more scanners.
