Lexmark Announces New Lasers
Tuesday October 24, 2006
Lexmark has just announced some rather nifty new laser printers that use a new print head technology, what they call an Instant Warm-Up fuser and two-sided printing as standard with every model (which is quite good, considering that two-sided printing used to be solely available on higher-end printers). The new print heads, which come with less moving parts than previous, more traditional types, are meant to add reliability to the machines, and Lexmark claims that the new printers can go from sleep mode to print in 6.5 seconds. Models range from the E250d, a monochrome laser that starts at $199, to the E450dn, a networkable color laser available for $599.
Are these printers as good as they sound? No way of knowing until the first reviews come out -- but its always nice to see manufacturers push the envelope, especially with their lower-priced products.
