Dot Matrix Then -- And Now
Monday October 23, 2006
Dot matrix printers were once a part of almost every computer user's equipment -- they were, in fact, what were used before inkjets came around. These loud but useful printers worked very much like typewriters, but they created words and images using a series of dots.
There are still dot matrix printers available for specific uses -- for example, if you need to print through multiple sheets of papers -- like forms, for example -- a dot matrix is still the best way. Want to find one? Several printer manufacturers still make them; for example, Lexmark has several, ranging in price from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand.
