Driver, Driver, Who's Got The Driver?
Monday July 17, 2006
Our Tech Support Person was setting up a new computer today for a client who already had a printer. Where was the original disc -- you know, the one with the printer driver? The client had no idea. Was this, the client asked, a serious problem? Should they spend the next hour or so looking for it?
Of course not.
While it's always a good idea to hold onto the disc that comes with your printer -- especially if it includes other software, such as a photo organization program -- it's just as easy to download the printer driver from the manufacturer's Web site. In fact, if you've had the printer for more than a few months, you should look for the driver online rather than install the one on your disc, because it may have been updated in that time.
