Color On The Cheap

Monday October 24, 2005
A couple of months ago, Dell was the first to offer a monochrome laser printer below $100. Now, Lexmark is offering its own "first" -- the first color laser printer under $500. Well, technically under $500 -- its new C520n and C522n will list starting at $499.

This kind of thing just astounds me. It wasn't that long ago that color laser printers were relegated solely to the office crowd -- if you didn't have at least several thousand dollars to throw around, you didn't even think about color. Now, day-to-day desktop lasers are offering color printing and you don't even have to take out a loan.

I'm impressed.
