New Suit Against HP

Monday April 25, 2005
Back in February, we reported about a lawsuit being brought against HP by a Georgia woman who said that the company's smart-chip technology (which, among other things, can cause ink cartridges to stop working before the cartridge is completely empty) deceives its customer.

Now, it's New York's turn. A man in Valley Stream, Long Island, seeks over $5 million as part of a class action suit, also charging that the same technology is designed to stifle competition from companies that recycle old HP cartridges.

I guess HP's going to have to do a better job at trying to convince consumers that these self-destructing catridges really stop working for our own good.
