Xerox Adds New Printers
Friday January 30, 2004
Xerox is known more for its corporate, large-scale, take-no-prisoners printers and copiers than for small-business desktop devices. However, in the last year or so, the company has been introducing more systems for small business customers. On February 29, 2004, Xerox announced the Phaser 8400, a 24ppm color laser printer that uses solid ink technology (which is just what it sounds like -- color is produced by melting ink "crayons" onto the page rather than attaching powdered toner). The device includes a 500MHz processor, handles up to legal (8.5 x 14-inch) paper, duplex printing, and 600x600dpi resolution (2400 interpolated). The Phaser 8400 will start at $999 (other configurations offer additional features such as networking and additional paper trays); click here for more information.
