Oki on the Environment
Monday December 15, 2003
The continual replacing of ink cartridges, toner cartridges, and drum cartridges isn't only bad for our pocketbooks, it's also awful for the environment. Little, if any, of the materials in these cartridges is recyclable, and there must be thousands dumped every year. As a result, environmentally-minded (and PR conscious) printer manufacturers are helping to ameliorate the situation by offering recycling programs. The latest is Oki Data, which recently announced the Oki Eco Program, a free service which allows customers to send empty cartridges to a central reclamation center via prepaid labels. The labels come with the cartridges, and can also be downloaded from Oki's Web site. Information on the program, and a list of eligible cartridges, can be found here.
